Pest and poisons: Watch our video
Gugu Badhun Country, located in North Queensland about 200km northwest of Townsville, encompasses the upper reaches of the Burdekin River and its catchment. This vital river is fed by rain captured by the Seaview and Gorge Ranges. The region features the Valley of Lagoons, Reedy Brook Station, and Kinrara National Park, home to permanent inland wetlands associated with dry rainforest that provide refuge for water birds during the dry season. To the north, the land rises into the Evelyn Tablelands, while to the south, it slopes down as the Burdekin winds toward the sea. Westward, the Great Dividing Range rises, creating a diverse landscape rich in natural beauty and cultural significance for the Gugu Badhun People. The Gugu Badhun Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) has been instrumental in driving progress in the area, working diligently to protect cultural heritage and promote sustainable development for the community.
