Round 2

The Ramsay State School Bushland Revitalisation project will involve the removal of lantana, prickly pear and broad leaf weeds on a 6ha area over a period of a year. Pasture seeds will then be spread to encourage grasses over broadleaf weeds.

Benefits to the community

This project will contribute to the resilience of local ecosystems. The removal of lantana and Prickly Pear weeds will help to prevent spreading of weeds through wind and animal movements to neighbouring clean agricultural land, areas of valuable regrowth and remnant ecosystems. The reduced likelihood of weed infestation will allow the native grasses to regrow and the continued improvement of valuable open eucalypt woodland ecosystems.
