Logan Village, surveyed in 1865, was once an important river port on the Logan River. Boats from Brisbane sailed up the river from the mid-1860s servicing Robert Town's cotton plantation at Townsvale, now Veresdale. A store was established on the riverbank here at Logan Village. Goods were delivered to farmers by boat and their produce was taken to market in Brisbane. By 1870 the settlement had a hotel, a cross river ferry, a butcher and a blacksmith. Two acres of land were allocated for a National School on the corner of Wharf and River Streets in 1871, but early lessons were held in the Congregational Church in River Street for about twenty years. A new school building, the Logan Village Provisional School, was completed in 1894. In 1900 a new classroom was built and the old school converted into a teacher's residence. A new school opened in North Street in 1981 and the old school was converted for community purposes. The teacher's residence became a library. Other buildings have been relocated to the site including the Buccan Stationmaster's residence, now a museum and two federation cottages. The Logan City Council has developed a Village Green Community Hub on the site.
