On the northern banks of Station Creek, about five kilometres north of Croydon, lie the graves of former residents of the Golden Gate Mine settlement. There is another cemetery to the west of the railway line known as the Golden Gate Cemetery which was never gazetted. There are at least ten cemeteries in and around Croydon. Station Creek Cemetery appears to have been originally surveyed as the Golden Gate Cemetery in 1899 and gazetted in 1900. Presumably the locals knew this one as Station Creek, because the other was closer to the Golden Gate Township. There are two clearly marked graves here, and another 34 sites have been identified.
