The Mt Tarampa State School includes a number of structures including its 1906 provisional school building. The provisional school initially had 22 enrolments. The region had been opened up for mixed farming from 1903, when part of the original Tarampa estate was made available for selection. The school was upgraded to a state school in 1909, and a rear veranda was built. A playshed was added to the grounds in 1912. By 1914 enrolments had increased to 52 forcing the school committee to call for extensions. Alterations were made to the 1906 building and a new building was constructed to its north. A teacher’s residence was built in 1918 and a tennis court in 1925. The playground includes a number of significant trees, including a bottle tree (Brachychiton rupestris), Bunya pine (Araucaria Bidwillii) and three large date palms (Phoenix dactylifera). During the mid-1980s, a modular building provided additional classrooms. The school continues to be the social focus for the Mt Tarampa community. Some of the site’s early structures remain including the provisional school, playshed and teacher’s residence.
