The new rangers will establish a small specialised marine ranger team to lead our work on sea country and coastal estuaries.

  • The newly appointed Lama Lama Rangers will focus on Sea Country Management, supporting the delivery of our TUMRA and Joint Management Programs.
  • The Rangers will deliver community based programs, including the Junior Ranger Program, Community Forums for progressing Sea Country Management and the management and protection of cultural sites on adjacent islands.
  • Compliance activities and visitor management will be completed in collaboration with key agencies for support and to undertake joint patrols of coastal and marine environments.
  • The Rangers in collaboration with research partners will undertake monitoring and research of important mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems, in addition to identified important species such as marine turtles, sawfish and dolphins to inform management decisions.
