Find a volunteer project—K’gari (Fraser Island) volunteers and work experience

Help rangers on the world’s largest sand island with visitor and natural resource management programs. Volunteer positions on K’gari (Fraser Island) are project based, and as such, are not a regular occurrence. You will be contacted when a suitable volunteer project becomes available. For?
  • QPWS registered volunteers
  • Volunteers must be aged 16 years or older. People between the ages of 16 and 18 will only be accepted as part of a team that also consists of a parent/guardian.

The project involves:

  • General park duties and/or maintenance
  • Track work
  • Weeding and/or revegetation (including plant propagation)

Training will be provided.

The fitness level required will vary with different activities.

Some transport may be available.
