Find a volunteer project—Moreton Island Protection Committee

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, some of our volunteering programs are currently operating on a limited basis, in line with social distancing and restrictions on travel. We encourage you to check with the local contact listed for each volunteering program to find out if they are currently operating.

Help visitors enjoy magnificent Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) and contribute to important conservation and regeneration projects.

Where?

Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) National Park

When?

Monthly through autumn and spring, Friday to Sunday

For?
  • Volunteer with partner organisation or other government department
  • Volunteers BYO food and are accommodated in a semi-permanent camp at Blue Lagoon.

The project involves:

  • Beach rubbish removal
  • Hand weeding and re vegetation (including plant propagation on island)
  • Public education/ interpretation
  • Research and monitoring

Training will be provided.

A low to moderate level of fitness is required.

The Committee arranges discounted Ferry, Island transport and camping accommodation at discounted rates for volunteers. Volunteers and The Committee pay for transport costs.
