Find a volunteer project—Queensland Turtle Conservation Project – Research Volunteers

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, some of our volunteering programs are currently operating on a limited basis, in line with social distancing and restrictions on travel. We encourage you to check with the local contact listed for each volunteering program to find out if they are currently operating.

Marine & Freshwater Turtle research and monitoring.

  • QPWS registered volunteers
  • Work experience students
  • Industry placement students

The project involves: research and monitoring.

Training will be provided.

Anyone over 18 years of age with excellent health and fitness. This is a program of scientific research which requires you to walk multiple kilometres in soft sand every night, in the dark, and in all weather conditions. Please consider whether your health and fitness will allow this before applying.

We provide an onsite campground; however, you will need to supply your own tent & camping equipment. Conditions can be extremely hot and humid and will include periods of heavy rain.
Volunteers & staff pay into a “kitty” for communal food purchase and participate in a roster of cooking and cleaning.
