Find a volunteer project—Sandy Cape Lightstation volunteers/caretaker

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, some of our volunteering programs are currently operating on a limited basis, in line with social distancing and restrictions on travel. Stay on the world’s largest sand island and help with building and track maintenance, weeding and turtle monitoring.

The project involves:

  • General park duties and/or maintenance
  • Research and monitoring
  • Track work
  • Weeding and/or revegetation (including plant propagation)

Training will be provided.

A moderate level of fitness is required.

All team members to have senior first-aid certificate. High clearance 4WD vehicle and experience in operating vehicle in difficult conditions required.

Minimum of two volunteers live on-site for 3-4 weeks. 5-7 days of training required on-site. Accommodation and costs of barge and vehicle permit provided. Opportunities limited.
