Protected areas Eurimbula NP, Mount Walsh NP, Kroombit Tops NP, Castle Tower NP, Wongi NP, Bulburin NP, Beninbi NP, Deepwater NP, Eurimbula RR
Special values 12.12.11: Potential habitat for NCA listed species: Acacia sp. (Castletower N.Gibson TOI345), Cassinia collina, Commersonia leiperi, Daviesia discolor, Eucalyptus decolor, Grevillea venusta, Habenaria xanthantha, Macrozamia cardiacensis and Melaleuca formosa. This ecosystem is known to provide suitable habitat for koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus).
Fire management guidelines SEASON: Summer to winter. INTENSITY: Low to moderate. INTERVAL: 4-15 years. INTERVAL_MIN: 4. INTERVAL_MAX: 15. STRATEGY: Aim for 40-60% mosaic burn. Burn with soil moisture and with a spot ignition strategy so that a patchwork of burnt/unburnt country is achieved. Variability in season and fire intensity is important. ISSUES: The fire regime should maintain a mosaic of grassy and shrubby understoreys. Control of weeds with fire might be required. Presence of blady grass Imperata cylindrica could be a problem and not indicative of a healthy system.
Comments 12.12.11: Mostly in the northern half of bioregion.

1 Estimated extent is from version 13 pre-clearing and 2021 remnant regional ecosystem mapping. Figures are rounded for simplicity. For more precise estimates, including breakdowns by tenure and other themes see remnant vegetation in Queensland.
