Short description | Eucalyptus prava, Acacia blakei, A. neriifolia open woodland to shrubland on rock pavements on metamorphics |
Structure code | Shrubland |
Description | Eucalyptus prava, Acacia blakei, A. neriifolia open woodland to shrubland with or without heath species on rocky slopes and/or rock pavements on metamorphics. Occurs on Mesozoic to Proterozoic moderately to strongly deformed and metamorphosed sediments and interbedded volcanics. Exposed high altitude ridges, bluffs and mountain tops. Prefers hot exposed situations with skeletal soils and exposed rock outcropping. Not a Wetland. (BVG1M: 29b). |

Protected areas | Sundown NP, Sundown RR |
Special values | 13.11.9: Restricted to higher parts of the trap rock country. |
Fire management guidelines | SEASON: Autumn/Winter (Apr-Aug). INTENSITY: Low. INTERVAL: 7-12 years. INTERVAL_MIN: 7. INTERVAL_MAX: 12. STRATEGY: Burn < 20% of stands in any year, burning patches each year whenever possible. ISSUES: Try to prevent high intensity fire. Do not repeat burn at 7 year intervals. Once burnt at 7 years, burn at 10+ years next cycle. |
1 Estimated extent is from version 13.1 pre-clearing and 2021 remnant regional ecosystem mapping. Figures are rounded for simplicity. For more precise estimates, including breakdowns by tenure and other themes see remnant vegetation in Queensland.
