Structure code | Low Woodland |
Description | Casuarina equisetifolia low woodland to low open forest. A lower tree or shrub layer may occur, including Thespesia populneoides and Hibiscus tiliaceus. The ground layer is sparse and includes Spinifex longifolius, Chrysopogon elongatus and Ipomoea pes-caprae subsp. brasiliensis. Occurs on beaches and foredunes; unconsolidated siliceous sands or calcareous shell fragments. Not a Wetland. (BVG1M: 28a). Vegetation communities in this regional ecosystem include: 2.2.1x1: Spinifex longifolius tussock grassland with patches of Pandanus sp. and Cycas sp.
