Short description | Melaleuca leucadendra +/- Corymbia tessellaris woodland on alluvium derived from metamorphic rocks |
Structure code | Woodland |
Description | Melaleuca leucadendra (weeping paperbark) and Corymbia tessellaris (Moreton Bay ash) woodland +/- Blepharocarya involucrigera (Rose Butternut) +/- Buchanania arborescens (native mango). A sparse sub-canopy usually contains canopy species, Lophostemon spp. and Leptospermum madidum. The grassy ground layer is generally sparse to mid-dense and includes Imperata cylindrica (blady grass), Mnesithea rottboellioides and Panicum trichoides . Occurs on alluvium derived from metamorphics. Riverine. (BVG1M: 22c). |

Special values | 3.3.11: Important wildlife corridors. |
Fire management guidelines | SEASON: Early to mid-dry season. INTENSITY: Low to moderate. Burn only under mild conditions. INTERVAL: 3-5 years. INTERVAL_MIN: 3. INTERVAL_MAX: 5. STRATEGY: Burn less than 30% in any year. Patch burn early in the dry season so that wildfires will be very limited in extent. ISSUES: Restrict extent and intensity of fires. |
Comments | 3.3.11: Only small areas in bioregion, more extensive in Einasleigh Uplands bioregion. Threatened in places by alluvial gold mining. Heavily infested with weeds including Cryptostegia grandiflora, Cynodon dactylon var. dactylon* (green couch) and Mesosphaerum suaveolens*. |
1 Estimated extent is from version 13.1 pre-clearing and 2021 remnant regional ecosystem mapping. Figures are rounded for simplicity. For more precise estimates, including breakdowns by tenure and other themes see remnant vegetation in Queensland.
