Description
Lissanthe brevistyla is a spreading shrub growing to 1.5m tall and 2.5m across. The branchlets are slightly hairy. The leaves are narrow to lance-shaped with a stiff sharp point, 10-25mm long, 1.8-3mm wide, hairless, dark green above and whitish below. The leaf stalks are 0.8-1.5mm long.
The dense, spike-like flower clusters contain 18-26 white or pink flowers and are up to 25mm long. The flower clusters arise from where the uppermost leaves join the branchlet or from the tip of the branchlet. The mature fruits are globular or slightly depressed, 4-6mm long, 4-6.5mm in diameter, smooth and purple-blue coloured. (Bean 2001; Crayn et al. 2003)
