- Description
- Hydrocotyle dipleura is a perennial herb with horizontal, creeping stems and leaves occurring singly at each node. The leaves are circular to heart- or kidney-shaped, 2-8mm in radius, pale yellow-green coloured, hairless and with the margins entire or having 3-5 broad, shallow lobes. The leaf stalks are erect and 6-50mm long. Group of 6-9 greenish-white flowers are borne on stalks 3-17mm long. The individual petals are triangular and about 0.4mm long. Fruits comprise two laterally flattened mericarps, each 0.55-0.65 mm long, 0.45-0.6 mm wide, with lateral ribs in 2 pairs, prominent and dorsal ribs forming a narrow wing, the surface smooth.
Hydrocotyle dipleura is similar to H. peduncularis which, however, has inflorescences with 3-6 flowers, and mericarps with 1 pair of lateral ribs. (Bean & Henwood 2003) - Map
