Diagnosis of stress-levels in koalas across different habitats
This project aims to develop a species-specific, easy-to-use test kit to measure cortisol metabolites in koala faeces, as indicator of stress. The kit can be used by ecologists and wildlife rangers to monitor populations in different habitats, including assessing impacts of urban developments to guide the implementation of interventions to reduce stressors. Data generated by the kit will inform conservation policies by mapping stress levels of koalas across habitats.
