Environmental authorities register

The Department of Environment and Science’s environmental authorities register provides details about licences (environmental authorities) issued for resource activities (mining and petroleum and gas) and prescribed activities issued under the Environmental Protection Act 1994. The environmental authorities include conditions requiring the developments to conduct these activities in an environmentally responsible manner.

Each environmental authority has a unique permit number.

The register can be downloaded in Excel and CSV format:

Please visit the Mining activities page to obtain copies of conditions relevant to the standard Mining Activity approvals issued from January 2001 to 30 March 2013, 31 March 2013 to 20 May 2014, and 21 May 2014 to 30 March 2016 in relation to:

  • exploration and mineral development projects
  • mining claims and prospecting
  • mining lease projects.

Each environmental authority has a unique permit number which can be viewed using the environmental authority locations interactive map.

Note: Not all environmental authorities are available to view as a map feature. Due to changes in the Digital Cadastral Database, some map features may not accurately represent the locations described in environmental authorities.

The Department of Environment and Science has taken all reasonable care to ensure that the information included on the environmental authority register is complete and correct.

Please note that not all environmental authorities are currently available for download or viewing in the map format. Environmental authorities may be in the process of being uploaded or those being amended or processed may not yet be available.

The environmental authorities register is current as at 31 July 2019.
