PRCP applications
Holders of environmental authorities must submit rehabilitation plans for certain mining activities. These may be known under various names, but the department is transitioning holders towards progressive rehabilitation and closure plans (PRC plans) and associated schedules to manage their land rehabilitation.
This portal includes records related to applications for PRC plans, as required under section 540(1)(xiii) and 540(1)(aa) of the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (EP Act). This includes:
- reports about public interest evaluations, other than any confidential information within the meaning of section 316PE of the EP Act
- application documents for a proposed PRC Plan or an amendment of a PRCP schedule, including information requests and responses to information requests.
Documents are added to the portal incrementally, as they are reviewed by the department (for example, when an information request is issued by the department, or a subsequent response is submitted by the applicant). Note that PRCP application documents will only be made available once the application has been determined to be properly made. Accordingly, the range of documents available online will depend on the stage of its assessment process; not all document types may be available at a given time. The most common stages that a proposed PRC plan goes through are outlined below (noting that not all stages apply to every application, and some applications may have additional requirements under the EP Act):
PRCP Applications
- Application
- Public interest evaluations report for particular applications

- Response to information request (applicant)
